This tractor has very little stopping power with these brakes. What exercise you guys call up is the problem with these, are they but dirty, need adjustment. Do they look worn.

Thanks

Re: Super G Brakes with pics in respond to cazzhrdwd, 08-06-2009 sixteen:31:07

We recently repaired the brakes on our SMD. I followed the advice others have given, but I took it one step further. I machined the face of the inner (bering retainer) brake surface on a flat belt surfacing automobile. I chucked the outer housing on a lathe and cut a new face inside. Once I had new surfaces for the discs to contact, I cut 0.010" to 0.12" cutting off the the outer housing to compensate for the material I removed from the restriction surfaces.

I had to supersede i set of actuators, but the other set I surfaced on the belt sander. This is a good opportunity to replace your oil seals likewise. Proficient luck, Greg

Never heed I found them. Let me ask another dumb question. These brakes have a lot of rust, many of you guys accept commented on this issue in past replies. Why could'nt you paint the inside of the housing and some other parts within that exercise not touch whatever other surface or that weares on another part.

Thank you
Cazz

The rust isn't from lack of of paint on the inside, it's from moisture getting in in that location. If the prophylactic boot on the actuator rod is cracked or missing, replace it. When you have the brake housing re-assembled, put a heavy coat of paint on the Exterior to discourage moisture from entering. Parking these tractors outside in the rain is a common shortcut to no brakes.

I've done a number of these. Remove the inner disc and make clean up that inner surface with a forty grit flap wheel on your 4 1/2 angle grinder. And so practise the surface on the drum.Scuff up both sides of both discs with circular wood rasp. Clean up the ball grooves. Make sure the adjusting bolt is not "bottoming out" on the actuator paltes. Grind some off if you lot accept to. Wire brushe the axles and spray just a fiddling chain lub on them.Too spray the teeth on the discs. A tad of thirty wt oil where the balls travel. I also take the drums planed .075 simply to become a piffling more than force per unit area. Nice pictures and dandy manner to ask a question.

Replace the balls, springs, and disks, sand the rust off the machined surfaces and they are expert to become.

There is steel assurance in between the plates that twist when you apply brakes. The balls have to be clean and the channels that they run in have to exist smooth and make clean and the spline they all run on. They take some life left in them.

Today's Featured Commodity - On the Road with Dave Gohl: Auction Musings - by Dave Gohl. I was thinking the other twenty-four hour period about all the auctions I've been to in the last few years. There've been many. Some have been very adept, some have been well, disappointing to say the least. Just no matter how practiced or bad auctions may be, nosotros always seem to stay until the item we've come for or are interested in is on the block. I've been to some auctions about and far. I recollect the furthest has been the 2 Cylinder 7 in the Amana Colonies concluding year. Lots of stuff, lots of people. I've as well atten ... [Read Article]
